Une note d'auteur

I wasn’t quite sure what to write. I wanted to write a different piece, but it didn’t happen. Then my mind started to really work and it wouldn’t stop. I just started writing down words on paper, and sure enough I had gotten something that was true in many ways. This is for anyone and everyone. Nia:wen ko:wa.

We're Still Here

Strong,
Caring,
Balanced.

We’re still here.

Lost,
Broken,
Damaged.

We’re still here.

Alcohol,
Drugs,
Diseases.

We’re still here.

Research,
Knowledge,
Understanding.

We’re still here.

Practicing,
Performing,
Continuing.

We were once mighty people who lived in harmony with life.
We have had our identities torn from our hands and minds leaving us confused.
We have found ways to cope with our pains and losses, or so we thought.
We have had our past recorded for the youth to understand why we are tormented in mind and spirit.
We have found the strength again to bring back what is rightfully ours.

All is not lost, fore, we’re still here, and always will be.
